A creative response to Line by Jethro Turner
Mr Spider’s wife eats her eyelashes. Gary Spider had always been bemused by the tight click-tap of teeth that Sarah had quietly performed, sitting in thought or absentmindedly flicking through a magazine. But until this instant, he had never in 9 years thought to ask why she made the noise. “I get them off my pillowcase” she explained, sitting in her silk stockings, before taking a swig from a can and returning her gaze to the page. On the sofa their little boy continued to finger the pre-worn holes in his father's designer jeans like previous generations might have examined battle scars.
